WA Days
The Bungle Bungles, Purnululu National Park - what an experience!!! The road in took 3 hours to cover 53 kms through Mabel Downs Pastoral Lease. The destination and road in are awesome.. Camped at Willardi campsite and walked to Cathedral Gorge the next day.
Visions of 80 Mile Beach Gantheume Point, Port Smith Port Hedland Dampier, Burrup Peninsula, North-West Shelf Gas Project, Cossack Weekend getaways to 80 Mile Beach, Port Smith, Karratha, Cossack and Gantheume Point outside Broome. A chance to 'chill out' in lazy, tropical surrounds. Such is life...
Millstream Chichester National Park. Millstream Homestead, Python Pool, Fortescue River. More wonderful camping opportunities at Millstream. Travelled there along the Railway Road, permit required. Python Pool fed by aquifers supplying fresh water from underground streams.
Mount Gibson Sojourn. 4 days to just sit and relax. It gets cold at night, apparently! Campfire is traditional with all daily events culminating in a campfire gathering. Fire is set without matches, marshmallows toasted on a top grade 'marshmallow stick', Stones Ginger Wine is mandatory on those 'cold' nights (but can be consumed on those not-so cold nights too!) Baileys and Wild Turkey also proved popular.. Jaffles cooked in the coals, vegetables also! Superb Hillybilly roast meat, thank you Pete! Solar showers are the go, as is the 'quiet time' after lunch! There were sparklers for the kids (big and little), and Marnie to sit in the back of the ute (and fall out of!) Walks and 4WDrives to undertake, photos to take, Brandon's special campfire for those marshmallows, bugs to catch, lots of laughs and good times..... What more could you ask for??
After leaving Peter and Nola at Cue, the road to Morawa was the next part of the journey. Canna was alive with wildflowers, native orchids and color.
Mullewa, Woolleen, Murchison, Gascoyne Junction, Nyang to Onslow forms the Wool Wagon Pathway. Strange who you can bump into on the Kennedy Range Road!!!
Marble Bar, Coongan River, Coppins Gap to round off a perfect outback holiday. 46 degrees in the waterbag but not in the least humid. Plenty of places to go for a dip to cool off.
